A 16-year-old Almajiri, identified as Abdullahi, was killed by an angry mob in Kanwa village, Madobi Local Government Area of Kano state.
The mob’s fury stemmed from allegations that Abdullahi beheaded a six-year-old boy, Mohammed Saidu.
The Kano State Police Commissioner, Usaini Gumel, confirmed the tragic incident on Friday, April 12th.
“After a frantic search within Kanwa village,” Commissioner Gumel stated, “the body of the young boy was found in a nearby primary school.”
Gumel further revealed that Abdullahi, after being apprehended by the mob, confessed to the police. “The suspect admitted to disposing of the victim’s head in a pit latrine adjacent to the primary school,” Gumel added.
According to the Village Head, Umar Maitama Yusuf, Abdullahi had previously worked as a domestic helper for Mohammed Saidu’s parents.
“He was unfortunately let go due to suspected stealing,” Yusuf said. The Village Head also mentioned that Abdullahi “returned to the village during the festive period to offer condolences for the passing of an elderly woman.”
