Mohammed Saidu-Etsu, a former aspirant for the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has filed a lawsuit seeking to nullify the appointment of Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Kano state governor, as the party’s national chairman.
The suit, filed on Friday, May 3, at the FCT High Court in Abuja, asks the court to declare Ganduje’s appointment “illegal, patently unconstitutional, null, and void.”
Etsu argues that Ganduje must first clear his name of corruption allegations stemming from the long-standing “dollar bribe” case against him.
In response to his suspension by his ward in Dawakin Tofa local government, Ganduje has dismissed the action as politically motivated and likened it to a “show” on an African magic entertainment channel.
He claims the Kano state government is behind the suspension.
