Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), made a compassionate visit to victims of a bomb attack at a mosque in Gadan village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The incident, which has shocked the nation, occurred last week, leaving many injured and several fatalities.
Obi visited the victims on Sunday at the Murtala Specialist Hospital in Kano, where he condemned the attack in strong terms. Speaking from the hospital, he expressed deep sorrow over the tragic event and the pain inflicted on the victims and their families.
“It is really sad that such an attack can happen in our nation,” Obi told reporters. “It was horrific seeing the victims. I came here to show solidarity and support in their care in any way possible and to commend the hospital management for their efforts.”
During his visit, Obi conveyed his condolences to the government and people of Kano, urging the nation to unite in the fight against such senseless acts of violence.
Dr. Husseini Muhammad, the Chief Medical Director of the Murtala Specialist Hospital, reported that the hospital received a total of 23 victims from the attack. Tragically, 15 of these victims have passed away, while eight are still receiving medical treatment.
Muhammad praised Obi’s visit, highlighting it as a symbol of national unity and solidarity. “The visit by the former Governor of Anambra State signifies the unity and oneness of our country,” he said.
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across Nigeria, with calls for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
