Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, has directed district heads to attend a meeting at his Nassarawa Palace to prepare for the upcoming Eid-ul-Kabir Durbar.

This comes despite his dethronement by the Kano State Government on May 23rd. A letter signed by the Palace’s Senior Counselor, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi, states the meeting will prepare and formalize the Durbar, with the deposed Emir presiding.

Since his removal following the repeal of the 2019 Emirate Law, Bayero has continued to hold court at the Nassarawa Palace under heavy security.

Meanwhile, the officially recognized 16th Emir, Muhammad Sanusi II, resides at the traditional Emir’s Palace, Gidan Rumfa.

This latest development creates uncertainty surrounding the prestigious Eid celebration, with two potential Durbars looming. It remains to be seen how the Kano State Government will respond to Bayero’s directive.
