In response to a circulating document on social media, allegedly from the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, urging the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to decline reinstatement and follow his grandfather’s example, the Kano State Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Hon. Sani Auwalu Ahmed Tijjani, has denounced the document as a forgery.
Hon. Sani Auwalu said the document, attributed to Khalifa Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse, has been labeled as a falsehood aimed at tarnishing the reputation of prominent religious figures.
The purported statement from the Nyass family, as reported by some outlets, urged the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to reject reinstatement and prioritize the peace of the state. Allegedly signed by Sheikh Muhammad Mahy Ibrahim Nyass, it advised Sanusi to follow his grandfather’s example and avoid personal interest influencing his decision.
However, Hon. Sani Auwalu Ahmed Tijjani has categorically denied the authenticity of this document. He declared, “Those who circulated this document are hereby informed that they have committed forgery and tainted the reputation of the person to whom it was attributed.”
Tijjani called upon the creators of the document to come forward within 24 hours to clarify its origin, posing questions on whether it was from the Governor, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, or another intermediary.
He emphasized that a thorough investigation would ensue, promising that those responsible for the forgery would face legal consequences.
“This is the second time such forgery has occurred, the first being during the Ganduje administration. We will not tolerate any further damage to the reputation of our leaders,” Tijjani asserted, underscoring the severity of the issue and the government’s commitment to uphold the integrity of its leaders.
