Gunmen Disguised as Soldiers Raid Market, Kidnap Businessman in Kano Community

Suspected gunmen raided Saya-saya community in Tudun Wada Local Government of Kano State on Friday and abducted one businessman identified as Alhaji Manye Sabon Garin Makwasa.

According to the report, the gunmen, numbering about six and dressed in army uniforms, stormed the Saya-saya local market in the town around 4 p.m.

An eyewitness, who is also a relation to the victim and pleaded anonymity, said the gunmen stormed the local market area wearing security uniforms.

“The gunmen stormed Saya-Saya Market in the early hours of Friday evening, during the peak of daily trading. According to an eyewitness, there were six to seven attackers, with four dressed in army uniforms.”

A community leader, who pleaded not to be mentioned because he was not authorized to speak with the media on the matter, told Kano Times, “The businessman was released, and I can tell you the abductors collected ransom to release him.”

However, the state police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, did not respond to calls and text messages regarding the incident.
