A Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Aisha Ya’u, has issued a temporary restraining order against the faction led by Muhammad Bello, preventing them from presenting themselves as the elected executives of the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
The order was granted by Justice Aisha Ya’u following the hearing of a motion ex parte dated July 29, 2024, accompanied by an affidavit sworn by Peter Hassan Tijani, one of the applicants in the case.
The court’s order states: “An Order Of Interim Injunction is granted restraining the 8th to 22nd Defendants/Respondents, either by themselves, servants, agents, privies, or any other person assign whatsoever and howsoever from parading themselves as elected executives of the 1st Defendant pending the hearing and determination of Motion on Notice.”
The applicants in the case include Amb Ibrahim Waiya, Ibrahim Hassan Gama, Hajiya Rakiya Ladi Musa, Peter Hassan Tijani, Mustapha Chiroma, Ibrahim Muhammad, Yahaya A. Yahaya, and Barrister Maryam Abubakar.
On the other hand, the defendants comprise the Registered Trustees of the Kano Civil Society Forum, Hamisu Isah (Chairman of the Electoral Committee), Dr. Abdurrahman Hudu (Secretary of the Electoral Committee), Halima Ben Omar (Member of the Electoral Committee), Abdurrazak Alkali (Member of the Electoral Committee), and Abba Bello (Member of the Electoral Committee).
Other defendants include Haj. Mairo Garko (Member of the Electoral Committee), Muhammad Bello, Fatima Musa Aliyu, Barr. Aminu Sani Muhammad, Salisu Gambo Ditol, Ali Wali, Maryam Garba Usman, among others.
The court has adjourned the case to September 10, 2024, for hearing.
