35 Arrested in Kano for Kidnapping, Armed Robbery

The Kano State Police Command announced the arrest of 35 suspects linked to various crimes over the past month.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the crimes include kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, drug dealing, and fraud.

Kiyawa confirmed the arrests on Monday while showcasing the items recovered from the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

Among the recovered items were stolen vehicles, solar batteries, mobile phones, and counterfeit currency.

“Some of the notable cases include the arrest of five suspected armed robbers on August 12, who were connected to a robbery incident at Hotoro Quarters, Kano. A motor vehicle and a locally made gun were recovered from them,” Kiyawa said.

He also detailed the arrest of two suspected kidnappers on July 18, leading to the rescue of two kidnapped victims in a deep forest in Gubuchi Village, Makarfi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

In another incident, five suspected thieves were apprehended on August 27 in Warawa Local Government Area, leading to the recovery of five solar batteries.

“Two armed robbers were arrested on August 26, and a sharp knife and a stolen mobile phone were recovered in Dorayi Quarters, Kano,” Kiyawa added.

The police also arrested suspected fraudsters, motorcycle thieves, and armed robbers, along with the recovery of stolen vehicles and counterfeit currency.

Additionally, Kiyawa mentioned the arrest of three suspected drug dealers on August 26, with 98 pieces of Exol tablets and a block of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, seized in Yan-tagwage Quarters, Kano.
