Like renowned journalists such as Dele Giwa and Nduka Obaigbena, who changed the landscape of journalism in Nigeria, Babangida has left an indelible mark through his work on platforms like Radio Jigawa and Jigawa Television (JTV).
Babangida’s journalism career has been marked by significant milestones. His transition from radio to television, following professional training at the prestigious BBC Academy, highlights his adaptability and commitment to growth. His popular program, Mu Kewaya Duniya, resonated with audiences by offering insightful and educational content. Now, through his new program Fitilar Rayuwa on Sawaba FM Hadejia, he discusses various aspects of life, including the economy, politics, administration, and societal challenges.
His impact grew even further when he moved to the Jigawa State House of Assembly, serving as Public Relations Officer and now as Secretary Jigawa State Assembly Commission. This transition highlights his growth and leadership in the industry.
I am proud to say that I, along with many others who had the privilege of working under his guidance during our National Youth Service at Jigawa Television, owe much of our professional growth to him. His mentorship has shaped us into the journalists we are today. Babangida is not just a leader; he is a visionary and a pillar of excellence, always striving for truth, fairness, and balance in every report.
As a mentor, Babangida stands apart. His modesty, consistency, and dedication to the ethics of journalism serve as a profound inspiration to all who have worked with him.
