Traditional Leader Arrested for Kidnapping Four Victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old ward head, Usamatu Adamu, and two of his accomplices in connection with a series of kidnappings and a brutal rape incident in the state.

According to the police spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, Adamu, who is from Runka village in Safana Local Government Area, was apprehended after a painstaking investigation linked him to several kidnappings in the area.

“The suspect was arrested based on credible intelligence on October 3rd, 2024, and is currently being held in custody,” Sadiq said.

The ward head is accused of conspiring with Rabe Sada, alias BBC, and Nasiru Sha’aibu, both from Runka village, to kidnap four people from their community. The victims, Abdulkarim, Malam Sakoa, Malam Sirajo, and Ali, were taken hostage and held for ransom.

In addition to the kidnapping cases, Adamu is also implicated in the brutal rape and attempted murder of a 16-year-old girl in Katsina State.

The suspect, identified as Usman Mohammed Iyal, is said to have accosted the victim while she was on an errand, dragged her into an uncompleted building, and assaulted her. He then attempted to dispose of her body by throwing her into a well.

The victim’s father reported the incident to the police, and the suspect was arrested after a swift investigation. The victim is currently receiving medical attention.

The police spokesman emphasized that the investigation into these cases is ongoing and that further arrests are possible. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
