President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed new ministers, introducing several fresh faces into his cabinet.
One of the appointees is Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, former Director at the Centre for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano, where she served from 2021 to 2024.
Dr. Ahmad, a gender expert with decades of experience, is now the Minister of State for Education.
Dr. Ahmad has been active in advocating for girl child education, education policies, and addressing gender-based violence.
She has been a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, for 17 years, holding various leadership roles, including Head of the Department of Science Education and Sub Dean Academics. She also recently became the first female Provost of the College of Education and Legal Studies, Ringim.
Other newly appointed ministers include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Idi Mukhtar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development, and Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development.
In his address, President Tinubu called on the new ministers to view their roles as a responsibility to the nation, emphasizing the need to focus on the pressing challenges facing Nigeria.
