Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has inaugurated the 44 newly elected local government chairmen, all members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), urging them to use public resources carefully and focus on grassroots development.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Yusuf emphasized the need for fiscal discipline to achieve progress across the local government areas.
“Our people have placed their trust in you to lead development at the grassroots,” he stated. “Use your resources wisely to ensure benefits reach every corner of our state.”
Among the new chairpersons is Sa’adatu Salisu from Tudunwada local government area, the only female elected in this cycle, representing women in local governance.
“It is an honor to serve, and I am committed to making a difference in our communities,” Salisu said after the ceremony, pledging to address issues affecting women and youth in her region.
The elections, conducted by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) on Saturday, led to NNPP candidates winning all the seats.
KANSIEC also issued certificates of return to the elected local government executives and legislators, marking the start of their official duties.
Governor Yusuf reminded the chairmen of their responsibility to uphold transparency and accountability, stating, “Our administration expects you to govern with integrity and accountability.”
