Stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Kano’s 44 local governments have strongly criticized a recent petition, purportedly signed by 50,000 APC members, opposing the ministerial nomination of former Kano State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
The group described the petition as baseless and aimed at undermining credible APC stakeholders in Kano.
Hon. Ado Isyaku Daddauda, a former legislator in the Kano Assembly and the group’s spokesperson, addressed journalists in Kano, stating, “The so-called 50,000 members are merely fabrications by elements seeking to tarnish the image of legitimate APC stakeholders in Kano. These detractors are enemies of Kano, intent on damaging the state’s hard-earned reputation and the interests of its people.”
Daddauda praised Ata’s nomination by President Tinubu as a well-deserved recognition, highlighting Ata’s extensive political experience as a grassroots leader, former advisor to the Kano State Governor for eight years, three-time Assembly member, and past Speaker.
“The nomination is long overdue,” he said, emphasizing Ata’s record of integrity and accomplishments.
He further asserted that the fabricated opposition stems from fear of Ata’s strong track record and his commitment to serving both his constituency and the nation at large.
According to Daddauda, President Tinubu’s decision aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit, given Ata’s expertise as a Planning Officer at the Kano State Housing Corporation since 1994.
The stakeholders called on the people of Kano State and Nigerians nationwide to disregard the baseless claims of the so-called 50,000 APC members, labeling them as unsubstantiated.
