Proof of the Abia State High Court judgment compelling INEC to recognize the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, led by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, as the legal authority of the party, has been served on the commission by the court bailiff.
The judgment mandates INEC to update its records to reflect the decisions of the Board of Trustees under Dr. Aniebonam, including the constitution of the National Working Committee (NWC) and other party organs.
In a statement issued by the National Secretary of the NNPP, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, the party announced the constitution and ratification of a new NWC in line with the court’s ruling.
The statement, released to the press in Abeokuta, emphasized compliance with the judgment.
“The compelling judgment of the Abia State High Court directs INEC to recognize and deal with Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP. INEC must amend its records to reflect these developments,” Oginni stated.
He also clarified that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, previously claiming leadership of the party, had been expelled alongside Elder Buba Galadima and other members of the NWC associated with Kwankwaso, including Dipo Olayoku, Kawu, and Dr. Ahmed Ajuji.
Oginni declared, “This judgment brings an end to the activities of Senator Kwankwaso and his associates, as the Board of Trustees confirms Dr. Agbo Major Gilbert’s leadership of the NWC as legitimate.”
He urged INEC to urgently update its records in compliance with the court’s directive, asserting the necessity of adherence to the rule of law.
