Bandits Abduct Over 50 Women, Children in Zamfara

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Kakin Dawa village, a district in Gidan Goga, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and children.

According to a community member, the armed men stormed the village around 1:30 am on Sunday, moving from house to house with sophisticated weapons.

“Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” he said.

He added that the kidnapped victims included young girls and married women, appealing to both the federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy more military and security personnel to confront the terrorists.

Efforts to get a response from the Zamfara State Police Command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
