The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to ensure that 2025 brings about changes in security across the country’s theatres of operations.
In a message shared on Tuesday to mark the Christmas celebrations, Musa acknowledged the significance of the occasion, which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.
The statement, issued by the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, mentioned that Christ’s birth was a symbol of hope and good tidings.
Musa urged the Christian members of the armed forces to use this Christmas period for introspection and to reflect on God’s love for humanity. He also called on Nigerians to embrace the teachings of love, forgiveness, and unity.
Reflecting on the year, the CDS noted, “The year has been eventful, marked by incidents. Despite these, Almighty God has been gracious, and we are alive to witness another Christmas celebration. We remember with heavy hearts the colleagues who lost their lives in the course of securing our nation from insecurity caused by terrorists, bandits, and other non-state actors.”
Musa honored the fallen soldiers, stating, “As a mark of respect to our colleagues who paid the supreme price, our troops must ensure the year 2025 is marked by changes in the security situations in all our theatres of operations.”
The CDS acknowledged the troops’ resilience and sacrifices in securing the nation. He also reassured them of the military’s commitment to the Nigerian constitution.
Musa concluded by urging all security agencies to remain vigilant in safeguarding Nigerian lives and property and warned potential subversive elements and enemies of the state to reconsider any plans for destabilizing actions during the festive period.
