CDS General Musa: We’re Closing in on Bello Turji

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the capture of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, emphasizing that ongoing operations are closing in on him.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review programme on Tuesday, Musa revealed progress in dismantling Turji’s network. “The update is that since he knows we’ve been after him, he has been operating underground, and we are conducting operations,” he said.

He added, “What we have been doing, of recent, is that we are picking everybody close to him; all those giving him support in one way or the other, we have picked them. We have killed his commanders. It’s just a matter of time.”

Musa also highlighted the surrender of over 120,000 terrorists in the North-East, attributing this to sustained military pressure. He acknowledged that some of those who surrendered had been coerced into insurgency.
