Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has assured his supporters that despite the political turbulence in the state, victory is inevitable.
Speaking on Monday during the commissioning of the Government House Staff Quarters at Forces Avenue, opposite Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his confidence, urging his allies to remain steadfast.
In a symbolic gesture, the governor opened his address with a passage from the Holy Bible, Philippians 3:18-19, which he said underscores the struggle against deception and selfish interests.
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.”
He followed this with a bold declaration: “Despite everything, victory is sure.”
Fubara insisted that his fight is not merely about political survival but about truth and integrity in Rivers State. He assured past local government chairmen present at the event that there was no cause for concern.
“I am not afraid of anything. The worst that can happen is for me to leave office,” he declared, vowing to stand firm in his convictions.
The governor also addressed the state’s youth, assuring them that when the time was right, they would be guided toward the right path.
Reacting to the Supreme Court’s ruling that nullified the local government elections and reinstated the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers, Fubara remained unfazed, asserting that “the future holds greater promise than the past.”
He pledged to complete his tenure with honour and integrity, countering political propaganda with evidence of governance. He pointed to the ongoing commissioning of state projects as proof of his administration’s commitment to development.
The newly inaugurated Government House Staff Quarters, he explained, was designed to enhance efficiency and provide a better working environment for public servants in the state.
