A Guiding Light Lost: Rano’s Beloved Mentor Sani Haruna Laid to Rest

Death is an inevitable journey for every soul. It spares none—whether mighty or humble, young or old, learned or unlearned. While it is a passage all must take, the legacy of a life well-lived endures in the memories of those left behind.

Malam Sani Haruna Rano, an extraordinary individual whose passing on Monday, March 17, 2025 (Ramadan 17, 1446), has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, students, and community. More than a father, grandfather, and teacher, he was a role model, mentor, and guiding light to countless lives he touched.

As a dedicated educationist, Malam Sani played a pivotal role in advancing health education in Kano and Jigawa states. During his tenure as Director of the Kano State School of Health Technology, he worked tirelessly to elevate the institution, ensuring access to quality education and pathways to meaningful careers for young learners. Under his leadership, countless students gained admission to higher institutions and secured healthcare roles, bolstering public health infrastructure in the region and beyond.

Beyond public service, Malam Sani was a cornerstone of Rano Local Government. Renowned for his kindness, generosity, and devotion to community welfare, he became a revered figure. He extended paternal care not only to his biological children but also to innumerable youths he supported through their educational journeys. His influence transcended profession; he embodied service, family, and societal progress.

Humility and integrity earned him profound respect across Kano State. Communities sought his counsel, revered his wisdom, and cherished his contributions. Whether in educational corridors or on the farmlands where he found solace in nature’s abundance, Malam Sani upheld principles of hard work, honesty, and selflessness.

Above all, he was a devoted family man who balanced duty with compassion. He imbued his children and grandchildren with values of discipline, education, and service, ensuring his legacy would thrive through them.

Malam Sani Haruna Rano’s passing marks not just the loss of a remarkable individual but the end of an era defined by compassion, dedication, and excellence. His life exemplifies that true greatness lies not in wealth or power but in the lives touched and the good enacted. As we bid him farewell, we pray Allah grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and comforts those he leaves behind.

May his legacy inspire generations to come.
