Ondo Police Nab 53-Year-Old ‘Uncle’ For Serial Rape, Forced Abortions Of 16-Year-Old Girl

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested and dragged a 53-year-old man, Babawale Kolawole, before a court for the serial rape of a 16-year-old girl and for allegedly forcing her to abort two pregnancies resulting from the assaults.

Kano Times gathered that the suspect, who is an uncle to the victim, carried out the heinous acts at his residence located at No. 12, Okeodunwo Street, Igbado, in the Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital.

According to the police, the victim reported on September 13, 2025, that the suspect had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of her almost on a daily basis.

The teenage girl further alleged that after each sexual assault, the suspect would use a cloth to clean her private parts.

The police said that on two occasions when the victim became pregnant from the rape, the suspect arranged and facilitated the termination of the pregnancies.

Upon receiving the report, operatives from the Gender-Based Offences Unit of the command swiftly moved in, arrested the suspect, and commenced legal action.

The police said the suspect has been arraigned before a court and remanded in custody pending further trial.

Ayanlade said the command remained resolute in protecting the rights of women and children, warning that perpetrators of such dastardly acts would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

He added that the prompt response was due to the reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who has a vision for gender-sensitive policing and a robust response to sexual and gender-based violence nationwide.
