The Rivers House of Assembly will on Thursday hold its first plenary, six months after the state came under emergency rule.
The sitting is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will be presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Quarters, Aba Road, Port Harcourt.
NAN reports that the development followed President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on Wednesday lifting the emergency rule and restoring democratic governance in the state.
The president also reinstated Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, as well as the suspended Assembly members.
The lawmakers are expected to use the plenary to chart the legislative direction of the Assembly as governance resumes.
The session is also expected to provide an indication of the Assembly’s position on reconciliation after months of political crisis that prompted federal intervention.
