NEMA Celebrates Customer Week, Reaffirms Humanitarian Values

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has pledged to sustain high standards in humanitarian service delivery, saying teamwork, compassion, and accountability remain central to overcoming disaster challenges across Nigeria.

Dr. Nura Abdullahi, Head of Operations at NEMA’s Kano Operations Office, made the remarks on Thursday during the agency’s 2025 Customer Week celebration organised by its SERVICOM Unit.

“The theme ‘Mission Possible’ reminds us that no goal is beyond reach when we act with determination, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose,” Abdullahi said. “In the humanitarian sector, we face daunting challenges—from floods and windstorms to droughts and human-induced crises—yet with courage, coordination, and compassion, every challenge can be turned into an opportunity to serve humanity better.”

He said the event offered staff an opportunity to renew their commitment to quality public service and humanitarian excellence.

Abdullahi noted that NEMA’s mission remains focused on coordinating resources and responses to reduce the impact of disasters and strengthen community resilience. He added that SERVICOM ensures the agency’s operations uphold transparency, accountability, and responsiveness.

“Every Nigerian has a right to be treated with dignity, fairness, and empathy—values that must remain at the heart of every humanitarian operation we undertake,” he said.

Acknowledging challenges such as limited resources and logistical constraints, Abdullahi said NEMA’s greatest strength lies in its workforce, committed partners, and resilient communities.

He called on staff and partners to embrace the “Mission Possible” theme as a mindset that guides planning and response efforts.

Abdullahi also commended the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Red Cross, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their continued collaboration in disaster management.

He reaffirmed NEMA’s resolve to uphold service excellence and build stronger partnerships to make humanitarian missions more effective across the country.
