The Kano State Police Command has announced the rescue of two kidnap victims and the recovery of key exhibits in separate sting operations conducted in parts of Kano and Kaduna States.
Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the successful operations reflect the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating kidnapping and protecting lives and property across the State.
According to him, “On 7th October 2025, acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, in collaboration with the Surveillance Team attached to Divisional Police Headquarters, Bebeji, carried out a sting operation following actionable intelligence about an escaped kidnap victim.”
He explained that the victim, Abdul Hamid Bello, 21, who was kidnapped and brutally assaulted by his abductors, managed to escape and alerted passersby who assisted in contacting the police.
Kiyawa said the victim subsequently led the operatives to the kidnappers’ hideout at Saya-Saya in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where another victim, Musa Idris, 65, was rescued.
“The kidnappers fled upon sighting the police team, abandoning one motorcycle and a rope, which were recovered as exhibits,” the police spokesman stated, adding that both victims were reunited with their families and taken for medical attention.
In a related operation, Kiyawa revealed that another victim, Ashiru Murtala, 19, who was kidnapped in Beli Village, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano on 5th October 2025, was also rescued.
He said, “The victim was abandoned by his abductors at a sugar cane farm in Hunkuyi, Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where he was later rescued by police operatives on 9th October 2025.”
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has directed that all rescued victims receive immediate medical attention. He assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The statement quoted the Commissioner as reiterating that “there is no hiding place for criminals in Kano State,” while commending the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication.
The Command also appreciated members of the public for their support, urging them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
“We urge the good people of Kano State to continue to observe personal safety and report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station,” Kiyawa added.
