Gunmen have reportedly killed a former staff member of Ogun State Television, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard at her residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, and the victims’ bodies were later deposited at the State Hospital morgue in Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
Although details surrounding the attack remain unclear, a source told journalists that church members discovered the incident after noticing Oyesiku’s absence from Sunday service.
According to the source, the church members visited her residence to check on her and found the security guard dead before discovering Oyesiku’s body on the premises.
“What we heard was that some church members went to check on her after she failed to attend church. When they got to her house, they found the security guard dead and later discovered that Mrs Oyesiku had also been killed. They then raised the alarm,” the source said.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that the command would issue an official statement on the matter.
Oyesiku, a retired broadcaster with Ogun State Television, was widely known in media circles. Her death has thrown colleagues, friends, and residents into mourning.
