A student of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), identified as Shafiu Auwal Ibrahim, has been found alive, four years after he was declared missing.
Shafiu, a resident of Janbulo area in Kano, was reported missing in 2021, a situation that triggered an intense search by his family and friends, many of whom had given up hope of finding him.
Family sources said the missing student was discovered over the weekend in Kaduna State, where he had been living under the care of an Islamic scholar.
“He was found in a village in Kaduna with a cleric who said he took him in years ago when he appeared mentally unstable,” a relative said.
The family expressed gratitude to God for Shafiu’s safe return after years of uncertainty, adding that he has since been reunited with them and is in stable condition.
