A Kano State Magistrates’ Court has ordered the arrest of Abubakar Idris, the traditional leader holding the title of Talban Warawa in Warawa Local Government Area, over allegations of sexually assaulting his housemaid, which reportedly led to her pregnancy.
The prosecution told the court that Idris, who had previously been granted bail, failed to appear at six consecutive hearings.
Defence lawyer Hassan Danjuma Balarabe requested an additional court date, assuring the magistrate that Idris would attend the next session.
Magistrate Hafsa Yahaya, expressing frustration at his repeated absence, directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure Idris is arrested and brought before the court.
The case has been adjourned to December 3 for continuation.
