Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, expressed sorrow over the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, describing the attack as an assault on the safety and learning environment schools are meant to provide.
In a statement, Tinubu also mourned the death of the school’s Vice Principal, who was reportedly killed during the incident. She called on God for the swift rescue of the abducted girls and peaceful rest for the deceased.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the abduction of the 25 students… and the tragic killing of the Vice Principal,” Tinubu said. “This heartbreaking incident is not only an attack on innocent girls and dedicated educators, but an assault on the values of safety and learning that schools embody.”
The First Lady added that President Bola Tinubu had directed security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and to bring those responsible to justice. She extended her thoughts and prayers to the victims’ families, friends, and school community.
