Plateau Governor Mutfwang Resigns from PDP

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

Mutfwang announced his resignation in a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.

In the letter, the governor said his decision was informed by the need for clarity of direction and effective leadership.

“Given the realities of the moment and guided by my commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform,” he said.

Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities and support he received during his time in the party.

“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me with the political platform to participate in the democratic process,” he said.

He also acknowledged the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels, noting that he remained grateful for the trust reposed in him.

The governor concluded the letter by conveying his regards to the party leadership, saying: “Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
