Global X Breakdown Disrupts Nigeria, Thousands Unable to Access App

Elon Musk’s social media platform X suffered a widespread service disruption on Monday, leaving tens of thousands of users unable to access the site through its mobile app and website.

Users reported that the platform, formerly known as Twitter, failed to load for many early in the day. Attempts to access the service often resulted in screens freezing on the X logo, while others who managed to open their feeds encountered an error message reading: “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”

X did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the cause of the outage or when services would be fully restored.

Outage tracking website Downdetector showed a sharp spike in reported problems, indicating the disruption was widespread.

Users in several countries, including Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, Ghana, Nigeria and Germany, reported difficulties accessing the platform.

Kano Times checks showed the outage affected both desktop and mobile versions of the service, with users unable to refresh timelines, publish posts or use other core features.

Monday’s disruption follows previous technical issues faced by the company. In November 2025, X and internet infrastructure firm Cloudflare experienced a separate outage that disrupted services for users in multiple countries, including the United States, India and Nigeria.

Despite recurring disruptions, X remains one of the world’s most widely used social media platforms. The latest outage prompted renewed concern among users who depend on the service for news, business and real-time communication.
