The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi, to comply with a court order directing the immediate release of an abducted minor, Walida Abdulhadi, currently in the agency’s protective custody in Abuja.
In a statement on Tuesday, MURIC’s Kano State Chairman, Malam Hassan Sani Indabawa, urged the DSS to reunite Walida with her parents in Hadejia, Jigawa State, as ordered by the court on January 7, 2026.
“The court of competent jurisdiction ordered the DSS to immediately release and reunite the victim to her parents,” Indabawa said.
He further called on police authorities to arrest and prosecute Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, Walida’s alleged abductor, in accordance with the court’s directive.
While commending the DSS under Mr. Ajayi for ongoing reforms, including promoting accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights, Indabawa expressed concern over the delay in enforcing the court order.
“It is perplexing that a case involving alleged abduction, rape, and forced conversion — coupled with blatant disobedience to a court order — remains unresolved under the current leadership,” he said.
