Fake Doctor Gets Death Sentence for Murder

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced Olatide Temitope Emmanuel to death by hanging for the murder of Falade Bosede.

The 48-year-old convict reportedly murdered Bosede on June 9, 2019, at Ajebamidele Street, Otun Ekiti, while falsely impersonating himself as a medical doctor.

The prosecutor, Kunle-Shina Adeyemo, told the court that the offences were contrary to sections 316 and punishable under 319(1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Adeyemo said seven witnesses were called to testify, while the prosecution also tendered the defendant’s statements, medical reports, and photographs of the deceased, among other exhibits, to prove the case.

The defendant, through his counsel, Adeyinka Opaleke, spoke in his own defence but did not call any witness.

In his ruling, Justice Babajide Aladejana said, “The prosecution has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the reckless action of the defendant caused her death on 24th June, 2019.

The defendant is accordingly found guilty as charged.”

He added, “The judgment of this court is that you, Olatide Temitope Emmanuel, be hanged by the neck until you are dead.”
