The Kano State Police Command has expressed appreciation to the Executive Director of the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), Hajiya Zainab Nasir Ahmad, for the organisation’s support toward the “Kano Model” of youth rehabilitation.
The Command described the initiative as a significant step in strengthening community-based security efforts across the state.
In a letter dated April 13, 2026, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, acknowledged the contributions of YOSPIS, particularly its presence at the recent handover ceremony of rehabilitated youths.
He stressed that security remains a collective responsibility, while commending the role of private individuals and organisations in promoting social reform.
“Security is a collective responsibility, and the contributions of organisations like YOSPIS are vital in fostering sustainable peace and social development,” the Commissioner said.
The Police Command also highlighted the collaborative efforts of key stakeholders, including Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba, Hon. Bappa Babba DanAgundi, and DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel (Rtd), noting that their advocacy continues to inspire broader participation in peace-building initiatives across Kano State.
According to the Command, the partnership has facilitated the successful reintegration of 36 individuals into society, underscoring the importance of rehabilitation as a strategic approach to crime prevention.
“The support received serves as a beacon for other stakeholders to invest in the peace and stability of our state,” Bakori added.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging sustained collaboration between security agencies, civil society organisations, and philanthropic actors.
It further assured residents of its dedication to adopting innovative and inclusive strategies aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security in Kano State.
