The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has uncovered three illicit drug warehouses in Okota area of Lagos, seizing narcotics worth about N16.9bn.
The agency disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
According to the statement, the intelligence-led operation resulted in the recovery of 2,360,000 pills of high-potency tramadol (225mg) and 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup stored across the facilities.
NDLEA said the raid was carried out on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 98 Olukayode Awofisayo Street and 5 Charles Ndumetu Street, both located within Park View Estate, Ago Palace Way, Okota.
It added that 19,094 cartons containing 1,909,400 bottles of codeine syrup and 34 cartons of tramadol tablets were recovered during the operation.
Reacting, NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, described the seizure as a major blow to drug trafficking networks operating within residential areas.
“The scale of this recovery, nearly 4.3 million units of lethal substances, shows that our officers are staying several steps ahead of these merchants of death,” Marwa said.
He noted that the concealment of such large quantities of drugs in residential estates highlights both the tactics of traffickers and the effectiveness of the agency’s intelligence.
“To find such volumes hidden within residential estates like Park View and busy hubs like Okota shows the desperation of these cartels, but also our strong intelligence capabilities,” he added.
Marwa warned that there would be no safe haven for drug traffickers, stressing that the agency would continue to dismantle illegal networks across the country.
“Let this serve as a warning to those profiting from the destruction of lives: we will find you and bring you to justice,” he said.
The NDLEA added that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse nationwide.
