The Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) has held a follow-up engagement with the member representing Kano Municipal Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Nabil Aliyu Daneji, on strategies for the proposed Kano Youth Development Bill.
The bill seeks to repeal the existing Kano State Youth Edict of 1976 and establish a more modern legal framework to strengthen youth inclusion, participation, empowerment and development across the state.
In a statement signed by its Executive Director, Zainab Nasir Ahmad, YOSPIS said it is “pleased to acknowledge the strong commitment of Hon. Muhammad Nabil Aliyu Daneji… towards championing the passage of a new Youth Development Bill aimed at repealing the outdated Kano State Youth Edict of 1976.”
According to the statement, the proposed legislation has already been developed and is designed to reposition youth development policies in line with current realities and needs.
“To demonstrate this commitment, a productive follow-up meeting was held this morning at the YOSPIS Nigeria office, where practical strategies were discussed on how best to present the bill before the Kano State House of Assembly and ensure its successful passage into law,” the statement added.
YOSPIS described the engagement as a positive step towards advancing youth-focused reforms in the state.
“This engagement marks a promising step forward for the future of young people in Kano. YOSPIS Nigeria remains optimistic and committed to sustained collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve meaningful progress in youth development reforms,” Zainab Nasir Ahmad stated.
The organisation reiterated its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the success of the proposed bill.
