JUST IN: 17 ADC reps defect to NDC

Seventeen members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

The defections were announced on the floor of the House during plenary on Tuesday, signaling a significant shift in the political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development follows the recent defection of prominent politicians, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who moved from the ADC to the NDC on Monday, further intensifying realignments within opposition ranks.

In a related development, Leke Abejide also defected from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lawmakers who joined the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, and Munachim Umezuruike.

Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, and Abdulhakeem Ado.

Further details are expected as the situation develops.
