Mahmud Sadis Buba, a 30-year-old aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has withdrawn from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Buba, a person living with disability, announced his withdrawal in a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, stating that the decision takes immediate effect.
He explained that his withdrawal followed reconciliation efforts initiated by party leaders and stakeholders aimed at strengthening unity within the party.
“This was not an easy decision, but it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he said.
According to him, the decision was reached after extensive consultations with his family, political associates and party stakeholders.
Buba noted that rallying behind a single candidate had become necessary to enhance the party’s chances in the forthcoming general election.
“I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state,” he added.
The former aspirant expressed appreciation to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the APC leadership for the opportunity to participate in the party’s nomination process.
“The experience has been enriching, and I am grateful for the immense support from my constituents and supporters throughout this journey,” he said.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged full support for whoever emerges as the party’s candidate, describing his withdrawal as a sacrifice made in the interest of party unity.
“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party,” Buba stated.
He also urged his supporters to remain calm and continue supporting the party.
Buba, popularly known as Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau, gained public attention after successfully passing the APC screening for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency ticket.
His candidacy had earlier generated debate over alleged age discrepancies in documents circulated online, although the party did not issue any official sanction against him.
He had sought to challenge incumbent lawmaker Sadiq Ango Abdullahi, who won the seat in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, before defecting to the APC.
