A 49-year-old farmer, Moshood Oladejo, has been remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre by an Akure Magistrate’s Court over the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in Ondo State.
Oladejo was arraigned on two counts bordering on unlawful sexual intercourse and defilement.
The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Omheneimhen, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on April 26, 2026, at Temidire Village in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 3(2) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of Ondo State, 2021, and Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Omheneimhen urged the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The defendant, who appeared without legal representation, denied the allegation but admitted that the victim sat on his lap, saying he could not explain his actions at the time.
Oladejo also told the court that he knew the victim through her grandmother, whom he supplied firewood to.
Ruling on the matter, the Magistrate, Taiwo Lebi, ordered the remand of the defendant at the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the advice of the DPP.
Lebi also directed that the case file be transferred to the Family Magistrate Court and adjourned the matter till August 4, 2026, for further mention.
