Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected to be a collaborator of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) at a military checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Kellu Abba, was apprehended around 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday while allegedly transporting supplies to insurgents operating in the Dumba area.
According to security sources the suspect is a Kanuri woman residing in the Lawanti area of Baga town.
The sources disclosed that the woman was intercepted while allegedly attempting to deliver items to her son, Modu Mustapha, said to be a suspected terrorist linked to ISWAP activities in the area.
Items reportedly recovered from her included four ready-to-use supplementary food packs, two hijabs and a wristwatch.
Military authorities said the suspect is currently being held at the 196 Amphibious Battalion for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The report added that although the security situation within the theatre of operation remains relatively calm, troops have continued to maintain high morale and operational efficiency amid ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
