One of the aspirants for the Kano State House of Assembly seat representing Tarauni Local Government Area under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Isa Adamu Bashir (Isa Jaa), has denied claims that he stepped down from the race in favour of another aspirant.
This follows reports that Hon. Kabiru Dahiru Sule (ADS) allegedly listed Isa Jaa among those who had withdrawn from the contest in the interest of party unity.
However, Isa Jaa, in a statement on Tuesday, insisted that he remains firmly in the race, stressing that he has neither withdrawn nor held any discussion with anyone regarding stepping down.
“As of this moment, I have not withdrawn from the contest, and no one has contacted me for any reconciliation meeting or discussion aimed at persuading me to abandon my ambition,” he said.
He also dismissed the claim that he stepped down for Kabiru Dahiru Sule (ADS), describing the report as false and misleading.
“I saw the statement issued by Hon. Kabiru Dahiru Sule (ADS) in which he mentioned my name among those who allegedly stepped down for him in the interest of party unity. I want to inform the people of Tarauni that I have not withdrawn from the race, and nobody has contacted me or held any discussion with me regarding such a matter,” he said.
Isa Jaa reaffirmed his commitment to continue in the race, saying he remains focused on engaging constituents and seeking their support.
He also urged his supporters to remain calm and steadfast, noting that any political decision he takes would be guided by sincerity and the wishes of the people.
While expressing respect for party leaders and stakeholders in Tarauni politics, he called on politicians to verify information before making public statements in order to avoid unnecessary confusion among supporters.
