2027: Kano Business Community Endorses Ibrahim Little for Governorship Race

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress in Kano State, Alhaji Nasiru Hussain Agalawa, has urged the party to field businessman and politician, Ibrahim Ali Amin Little, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, saying the Kano business community is backing his ambition.

Agalawa made the call while addressing journalists in Kano following the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as a presidential hopeful under the ADC.

He said Kano needed a leader with business experience, political understanding, and a clear vision capable of repositioning the state.

According to him, the political situation in Kano has made it necessary for the ADC to present what he described as a strong and widely accepted candidate.

Agalawa said the emergence of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the APC governorship candidate, and plans by the political bloc led by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to field either Abdussalam or Nasiru Gawuna, had further increased the need for the ADC to present Ibrahim Little.

“The Kano business community has always desired to see one of its own emerge as a major governorship contender. Ibrahim Little possesses the leadership qualities, political experience, and grassroots support needed to move Kano forward,” he said.

He added that Ibrahim Little’s background in governance, entrepreneurship, and youth development would attract support across political and ethnic lines.

According to Agalawa, the businessman would pose a serious challenge to Governor Yusuf and any candidate backed by the Kwankwasiyya movement if given the ADC ticket.

“As journalists, you need to conduct opinion polls and political surveys across Kano to see the overwhelming support and undisputed chances of the ADC winning the governorship election with Ibrahim Ali Amin Little as its candidate,” he stated.

Agalawa also alleged that there were attempts by some forces within the ruling APC to stop Ibrahim Little from emerging as the ADC governorship candidate.

He further claimed that another aspirant within the party was being sponsored to weaken the ADC in Kano ahead of the elections.

Despite the allegations, he expressed confidence that the leadership of the ADC would make “the right decision” in the interest of Kano State.

He reaffirmed the readiness of members of the Kano business community to mobilise support for Ibrahim Little and Atiku ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, their emergence would mark a new phase in Nigeria’s democratic and economic development.
