Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday visited former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi at his Abuja residence following the African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential primary.
Atiku was accompanied by former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, ex-ADC National Chairman Ralph Nwosu and other party leaders.
The visit came a day after Atiku emerged as the ADC presidential candidate for the 2027 election, defeating Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the primary held in Abuja.
According to the results announced by the party, Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi secured 504,117 votes and Hayatu-Deen got 177,120 votes.
Speaking after the exercise, Atiku appealed to aggrieved aspirants and members to unite for the party’s success ahead of 2027.
“I appeal to all those who feel aggrieved to come back to our party and close ranks with the rest of us,” he said.
He also urged Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen to join hands with him, insisting that there were “no winners and no losers” in the contest.
However, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen reportedly rejected the outcome of the primary over alleged irregularities.
Details of Thursday’s closed-door meeting were not disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
