Former Kano State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he and his party are planning a protest over the worsening security situation in the country.
Kwankwaso, in a statement issued on Monday, described the claim as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard the message.
According to him, neither he nor the NDC has endorsed or planned any protest in relation to the prevailing insecurity across the country.
“Our attention has been drawn to a message currently circulating on social media falsely claiming that we are planning a protest over the rising insecurity in the country,” he said.
The former governor stressed that he does not support any action capable of disrupting public peace or resulting in the destruction of lives and property.
“We do not support any action that could lead to the breakdown of public order or the destruction of lives and property,” he stated.
Kwankwaso maintained that addressing national challenges should be pursued through lawful and peaceful means, noting that democratic engagement remains the best avenue for resolving political and governance issues.
“As responsible leaders, we remain committed to peaceful and constructive approaches in addressing national challenges,” he added.
He further expressed confidence in the party’s chances in future elections, insisting that political grievances should be addressed through democratic processes rather than street protests.
“As committed democrats, we firmly believe that the ballot box remains the most legitimate and effective way to express grievances and seek change. Our party, the NDC, is confident of securing a resounding victory in the upcoming elections through peaceful democratic means,” he said.
Kwankwaso, therefore, called on Nigerians to ignore the viral message and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of misleading the public.
