Former Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) and Radio Kano, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso, has died.
Getso, a veteran broadcaster, died on Saturday at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness.
A native of Getso in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, he was widely known for his contributions to broadcasting and public communication in the state.
He served as Managing Director of ARTV during the first tenure of former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and later as Managing Director of the Kano State Radio Corporation during Kwankwaso’s second tenure.
Getso was renowned for anchoring popular Hausa programmes, including Hukuma da Jama’a (Government and the People) and Aiki Sai Mai Shi, which highlighted government policies and development programmes.
Colleagues and admirers described him as a dedicated broadcaster who contributed significantly to the growth of radio and television broadcasting in Kano State.
He is survived by his wives, children, and grandchildren.
