The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement Projects Monitoring and Evaluation has pledged to work with stakeholders to promote fairness and inclusivity in public procurement processes.
This followed an advocacy visit by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, to the ministry.
During the meeting, Sani called for the adoption of an Inclusive Procurement Policy and the establishment of measurable targets for its implementation.
“She urged the MPPPME to adopt an Inclusive Procurement Policy, establish measurable implementation targets, and ensure adequate allocation of resources for effective execution, monitoring, and evaluation,” a statement said.
The commissioner also stressed the need to integrate inclusivity into procurement processes.
“She emphasized that embedding inclusivity principles into procurement processes is essential to preventing vulnerable groups from being excluded from public sector opportunities and development interventions,” the statement added.
Responding, the Ministry for Public Procurement Projects Monitoring and Evaluation reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability.
“The Ministry further assured continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to strengthen monitoring systems that promote fairness, equity, and inclusivity in procurement practices,” the statement noted.
