The Franco-British International University (FBIU), Kaduna, has matriculated 362 students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The maiden matriculation ceremony, held on Wednesday, attracted parents, guardians, government officials, academics, and other dignitaries who gathered to witness the formal admission of the students into the university community.
The students were admitted into four schools of the university: the School of Nursing Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Computing, and the School of Social and Management Sciences.
Speaking at the event, the President of FBIU, Prof. Abdullahi Sabo Muhammad, congratulated the students on behalf of the university management and described the occasion as a landmark achievement.
According to him, the matriculation ceremony marked “a significant milestone in the lives of the students and in the history of the university,” as it signified the official commencement of their academic journey.
Also addressing the gathering, the Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, cautioned the students against engaging in immorality, drug abuse, and other social vices.
He stressed that the university maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse and urged the students to remain focused on their studies.
Prof. Gwarzo said the institution was committed to producing graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of Nigeria and the African continent.
He further announced plans to establish an Internationalisation Unit at the university to provide students with access to scholarships, academic exchange programmes, and global learning opportunities.
“The Internationalisation Unit will facilitate access to scholarships, academic exchanges, and global learning opportunities for our students,” he said.
In his goodwill message, the Chancellor of FBIU, Senator Shehu Sani, urged the newly admitted students to uphold discipline and good character throughout their academic pursuits.
He noted that discipline and integrity are essential for maintaining the institution’s reputation and achieving academic excellence.
Similarly, the President of MAAUN Nigeria, Prof. Mohammad Israr; the Registrar of MAAUN Niger and Nigeria, Dr. Shu’aibu Usman Tanko; and the representative of the Canadian University of Nigeria, Prof. Ahmed Maigari Ibrahim, described the students as fortunate to have secured admission into one of the emerging universities in sub-Saharan Africa.
They encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the institution and remain committed to their academic goals.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCON), Dr. Baba Muhammad Yakubu, also congratulated the students and commended FBIU for offering programmes tailored to contemporary societal needs and aligned with global standards.
The Vice President (Administration) of FBIU, who presided over the ceremony, administered the matriculation oath, formally admitting the students into the university community.
