Police operatives in Lagos and Ogun States have killed four suspected kidnappers, rescued five victims and arrested 88 suspects during coordinated raids on forests, highways and criminal hideouts across the two states.
The operation, codenamed “Operation Ko Si Aye” (No Room for Criminals), was launched under the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, with support from both state governments.
Addressing journalists in Iperu, Ogun State, the Commissioners of Police of Lagos and Ogun, Tijani Fatai and Bode Ojajuni, said the exercise was aimed at flushing out kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminal elements from forests, highways and border communities.
Ojajuni said tactical teams carried out bush-combing operations across areas including Ikeja, Kara Bridge, Redemption Camp, Sagamu corridor, Ogere, Ijebu-Ode, Ikorodu, Epe and Ogijo.
He disclosed that five abducted persons were rescued along the J3–J4 corridor near the Benin–Shagamu Expressway, adding that four kidnappers were neutralised during the encounter.
“On the marching orders of the Inspector-General of Police, Operation ‘Ko Si Aye’ moved into the area and successfully rescued five victims. Four kidnappers were neutralised while four others were arrested,” he said.
Ojajuni added that 88 suspects were arrested across both states, with weapons including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, pistols and other exhibits recovered.
He also dismissed claims of entrenched bandit camps in the states, insisting that thorough searches did not reveal any organised terrorist settlements.
In his remarks, CP Tijani Fatai of Lagos Command said reports of bandit infiltration were largely unfounded, stressing that the operation would continue.
“This is not a one-off exercise. It is a continuous operation. The police are not relenting in their responsibility to protect lives and property,” he said.
Fatai added that community members and vigilante groups supported the operation with intelligence, while investigations into the arrested suspects were ongoing.
