BUK receives N1.24bn NELFUND institutional charges for 10,617 students

Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has confirmed the receipt of N1.24 billion from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as institutional charges for 10,617 undergraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The university disclosed this in a letter addressed to the Managing Director of NELFUND and signed by its Registrar, Haruna Aliyu.

According to the letter dated May 22, 2026, the institution received the funds on April 30, 2026.

“I am pleased to acknowledge that on 30th April, 2026, Bayero University, Kano, has received the sum of One Billion Two Hundred and Forty-One Million Four Hundred and Fourteen Thousand One Hundred Naira (N1,241,414,100.00) only,” the registrar stated.

He explained that the amount represents institutional charges for 10,617 undergraduate students captured under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund scheme.

The letter further read: “Being institutional charges of 10,617 undergraduate students, under the scheme of Nigerian Educational Loan Fund (NELFUND).”

Aliyu thanked the agency for its support, saying, “Thank you for your usual support and cooperation.”

NELFUND was established by the Federal Government to provide financial support to eligible Nigerian students in tertiary institutions across the country.
