The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s printing industry to embrace unity, reconciliation and collaboration following the resolution of the leadership crisis in the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON).
Speaking on Tuesday at the Nigeria Print Industry Stakeholders’ Summit 2026 in Abuja, Idris said the end of the crisis presents an opportunity for stakeholders to move the industry forward.
The summit, held at Nikon Luxury Hotel, was themed, “From Resolution to Renaissance.”
“History has given you an opportunity to reposition this industry. Please seize it, work together, and let everyone support the leadership so that collectively you can move the profession forward,” Idris said.
The minister recalled that one of the first issues brought to his attention after assuming office was the prolonged leadership dispute within CIPPON.
According to him, his intervention was based on the belief that dialogue and cooperation would better serve the industry than prolonged litigation.
He said the printing industry has economic and employment potential, adding that a united industry would be better positioned to engage government on issues affecting the sector.
Idris said the Federal Government would continue to work with relevant institutions on professional standards and the operating environment for the industry.
The minister also urged the institute’s leadership to accommodate all stakeholders, regardless of past disagreements.
He also encouraged practitioners to adopt technological innovation as the industry continues to evolve.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPPON, Koko T. Clement, said the institute had made progress since the inauguration of the current Governing Council in December 2025.
He said the institute had engaged government institutions on professional standards, industry regulation and policies affecting the printing sector.
“Everything we do is for the growth of this Institute, for the benefit of every printer, every packaging professional, and every Nigerian who depends on this industry. We call on all stakeholders to work together in peace and mutual understanding so that what unites us remains greater than whatever may divide us,” Clement said.
