The Chairman of the Shura Council of the Tijjaniyya Sect, Sheikh Sani Shehu Maihula, has declared the council’s support for the re-election of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The endorsement was announced during the annual Zikr and national prayer organised by the Tijjaniyya Sect at the Kano Emir’s Palace, according to a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Represented by the council’s spokesperson, Sheikh Ibrahim Shehi Maihula, Sheikh Maihula said the decision followed a unanimous resolution of the Tijjaniyya Shura Council.
He said the council resolved to back Yusuf’s second-term bid “in recognition of his commitment to good governance, the promotion of Islamic values, and people-oriented policies.”
The cleric also commended the governor for supporting religious activities, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and social welfare programmes across Kano State.
Responding, Governor Yusuf thanked the Tijjaniyya Shura Council for its endorsement and prayers.
“I appreciate your confidence and support. Our administration will continue to serve the people of Kano with sincerity, justice, and the fear of Allah,” the governor said.
He also thanked religious leaders across the state for their prayers and guidance, describing them as critical partners in promoting peace, unity, and development in Kano State.
