The Kano State Government says it has completed 799 development projects across the state’s 44 local government areas, including rural infrastructure projects valued at over N397bn, under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, disclosed this during an international press briefing on the administration’s infrastructure development efforts in Kano.
Sumaila said the government had executed a total of 1,508 projects worth more than N928bn, with 799 completed and 709 at various stages of completion.
He added that the figure excludes 619 constituency projects being implemented across the 44 local government areas through members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
According to him, the projects are distributed across urban and rural communities as part of the government’s efforts to ensure equitable development across the state.
The commissioner said the projects include urban renewal initiatives valued at over N169bn, construction of five-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas worth more than N118bn, security infrastructure projects valued at over N6.8bn, rural infrastructure projects exceeding N397bn and other projects with a combined value of N255bn.
He said the government remained committed to transparency, value for money, quality project delivery and effective monitoring of public projects.
“The administration remains committed to sustaining development momentum across the state through strategic investment, project monitoring and transparent procurement processes,” Sumaila said.
He added that the ministry would continue to ensure that all projects are executed in line with due process, technical standards and approved specifications.
Sumaila also said the government’s development agenda prioritises road construction, education, water supply, rural infrastructure, security and social services to improve the living standards of residents and stimulate economic growth in the state.
